Local Celebrity Cook Night at Nick’s!

Sylvia and her husband both love to cook. With three children ages 14, 16 and 22 Sunday has turned into family entertainment night at the Schafer’s.  For a while, the couple even debated opening their own restaurant.   Eventually, they came to the conclusion that they were more in love with the idea of cooking for large groups than everything that actually comes with owning and operating a restaurant.  That’s when the idea for Local Celebrity Cook Night was born.

The Schafer’s regularly host parties for large groups at their home in Crystal Lake. Sylvia’s challenge has always been that not everyone always fits (especially in the winter) and that’s what prompted her to come to us with the idea.

What if a restaurant opened its kitchen to its guests and mom’s the opportunity to cook their specialty dishes not just their family, but their friends and entire community?

That’s exactly what we’ll be doing!

Sylvia will be making her home-made Tostadas from an authentic family recipe that has been passed down over generations given to her by a friend who grew up in Mexico.  Colorful and with a little kick, her Tostadas have been a family favorite for almost 10 years now and constantly get requested when absent from family events.

Join Sylvia and our team on Monday, February 25th in our Crystal Lake restaurant for an exciting new event at Nick’s Pizza & Pub!  In addition to featuring Sylvia’s Tostadas, we’ll be donating 15% of the day’s Net Profits* to Saint Paul’s Church of Christ in Crystal Lake which she describes as an extension of her family.
